Front End Loaders
Front End Loaders refer any type
of wheeled tractor that comes with a wide square tilting bucket on the
end of movable arms attached to the front of the tractor. The front end
loader may be a removable or permanent attachment which can be replaced
with other devices or accessories. Larger loaders that have only a front
bucket are called front end loaders, while smaller loaders with a backhoe
are called backhoe loaders. Front end loaders are used mainly for loading
sand, dirt and mud and transporting it to another location or into a truck.
They can also be used for clearing rubble and digging. While it cannot
dig a hole much deeper than the level of its wheels like a backhoe can,
their bucket capacity is much bigger than the capacity of a backhoe bucket.

Front Loader Applications
Like other loading and earth moving equipment, the front end loader can
scrape the ground and carry the soil from one location to another in its
bucket or load it into a truck or trailer. Front end loaders are often
found around construction sites or landscaping projects. Their medium
size and fairly heavy weight restricts them to large sites where there
has to be enough room to move around easily. Their weight and size means
that they are often transported on trailers towed behind a large truck.
Front end loaders are used primarily for moving large amounts of soil,
rocks or debris. They can also be used to grade areas, jackhammer cement
and load trucks, as well as many other tasks.
In
construction areas, mainly when fixing a road in a middle of a city, loaders
are also used to transport building materials - such as bricks, metal
bars and digging tools - over short distances. Unlike bulldozers, most
front end loaders are wheeled and not tracked. Wheels provide better mobility
(and speed) and do not damage paved roads. Like backhoes or standard tractors
fitted with a front bucket, many front end loaders use automotive steering
mechanisms. They steer by a hydraulically actuated pivot point set exactly
between the front and rear axles. This allows the front axle to be solid,
allowing it to carry a heavier weight. Most designs actually have the
front axle rigidly attached to the same frame that carries the bucket
and lift arms; This keeps the cutting edge of the bucket parallel to the
axle. The rear axle is articulated to allow travel over rough terrain.
Equipment Categories
Skid Loaders:
Backhoe Loaders:
Bulldozers: a tracked machine with a blade attached at the front.
Used to clear land or construction area of brush or debris, boulders,
and ground.
Cranes:
Excavators:
Graders: primarily finishing equipment. They level earth already moved
into position by bulldozers and scrapers.
Front End Loaders:
Tractors:
Grators: a wheeled or track-laying tractor flattens the earth for
road construction using a leveling blade. These machines are also used
to perform a variety of jobs on farms and construction sites.
